Thorsten Schütt

Partner & Managing Director

Thorsten was consultant and partner with the Boston Consulting Group for 18 years. Afterwards, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by becoming the managing director of a midsized shipping company, because even though he worked a lot for banks and insurance companies during his time at BCG, he has always been passionate about ships and everything to do with it.

He then founded KONGSTEIN GmbH/AS – together with Norwegian and Dutch partners – his first company in the field of marine engineering and maritime logistics serving the offshore wind industry. In this company, he holds the position of the Chairman of the Board. With Sleipner, he founded a second company, which aims to improve and automate port logistics with AI.

Thorsten also developed a selected investment portfolio of midsized companies in the maritime sector.

Thorsten went to school in Cuxhaven (Abitur 1981) and studied in Hamburg (1990 Diplom-Kaufmann – German business administration degree, similar to MBA) and at Kelley School of Business – Indiana University, USA (MBA, 1989). He is married, has three kids, they live in Hamburg.
